{"id":1269,"date":"2016-03-28T17:14:00","date_gmt":"2016-03-29T03:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mymonkeydo.com\/?p=1269"},"modified":"2016-03-28T17:14:00","modified_gmt":"2016-03-29T03:14:00","slug":"link-from-google-redirecting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mymonkeydo.com\/link-from-google-redirecting\/","title":{"rendered":"Link from Google Redirecting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After years of not having a client get hacked, I got 2 in a few weeks. \u00a0One client (client A) has a WordPress site which I developed the theme on. \u00a0Another client (client B) was brand new, no WordPress. \u00a0Client A&#8217;s site was redirecting to a porn site whenever a visitor went through a link from Google. \u00a0Client B&#8217;s site was redirecting to a 404 page (a php\u00a0file was not found). \u00a0Both sites were fine when\u00a0visiting the direct link.<\/p>\n<p>I found malicious code in Client A&#8217;s .htaccess file redirecting anyone visiting from google, bing, or any of the major search engines. \u00a0I\u00a0found and removed the PHP files that were not supposed to be on the site.<\/p>\n<p>Client B&#8217;s site was clean as a whistle. Nothing suspicious in the htaccess file and no mysterious php files. \u00a0Needed to contact the host about this one.<\/p>\n<p>In searching for more information on how the attackers may have gotten in, I came across this\u00a0worrisome forum. \u00a0Both clients are on GoDaddy so this is probably the issue they both had:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/topic\/malware-redirect-hacks-specific-question-regarding-vulnerabilities?replies=12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/wordpress.org\/support\/topic\/malware-redirect-hacks-specific-question-regarding-vulnerabilities?replies=12<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_genesis_hide_title":false,"_genesis_hide_breadcrumbs":false,"_genesis_hide_singular_image":false,"_genesis_hide_footer_widgets":false,"_genesis_custom_body_class":"","_genesis_custom_post_class":"","_genesis_layout":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[2,6],"tags":[24,28,29,30],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.3 -
